Today me and one of my best friends journeyed to Old Town Alexandria to add another check to our bucket list of historical places we want to visit. Alexandria has a lot of rich history, and we learned a lot as always. George Washington often dined at Gadsby’s Tavern, which we visited, and in fact he had his last birthday celebration there in 1799. During the Civil War, Confederate soldiers taking refuge in the graveyard of Christ’s Church removed all the gravestones and used them to shelter their fire from enemy eyes. The blackened head stones were placed back randomly, separating the bodies of those who rested underground from their indentifiers. It was a beautiful and quaint little town, and the cobble stones definitely offered enough for my feet to trip over. Alexandria-CHECK
